Tualatin holds the No. 4 spot in the OSAA 6A football coaches poll for the second straight week at 6-1.
The Week 7 poll, published Wednesday, Oct. 21, by the OSAAtoday and first reported by the Valley Times, shows the Timberwolves with 109 points. They trail unanimous No. 1 Lake Oswego (7-0, 150 points), No. 2 Nelson (6-1, 139) and No. 3 West Linn (5-2, 132). Three of the top four teams play in the Three Rivers League.
Tualatin climbed from 88 poll points in the Week 5 rankings to 109 after two lopsided victories. The Timberwolves beat then-No. 7 Lakeridge 62-35 on Oct. 9 and shut out Oregon City 42-0 on Friday, Oct. 16, according to MaxPreps.
The offense has been potent. Junior running back Iden Rule scored four touchdowns in the Lakeridge win and leads the team at 144.0 rushing yards per game, per MaxPreps. Junior quarterback Lincoln Keeney runs the passing attack.
"No hung heads. Our guys were pretty resilient this week. … Practice was solid this week. It's a fun group, and they enjoy working hard," Timberwolves coach Dom Ferraro said after the Lakeridge game, per The Oregonian.
The coaches poll is for discussion only and does not affect the Oregon School Activities Association's (OSAA) RPI and Colley ratings used for playoff seeding.
Elsewhere in the poll, Sherwood entered at No. 9 with a 4-3 record and 19 points. Lakeridge dropped from No. 9 to a three-way tie at No. 10. Tigard does not appear in the rankings or among teams receiving significant votes.
Tualatin travels to No. 1 Lake Oswego at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. The Timberwolves close the regular season at home against Tigard at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.
