Chick-fil-A plans to open a restaurant in Tigard by early 2027, part of a statewide push that hits its next milestone Thursday, Oct. 8, when a new Cornelius location begins serving customers.

The chain's expansion plan, first announced in October 2025, names Tigard alongside Portland, Cornelius and Wood Village as sites for new restaurants. The Cornelius opening is the third Oregon location to come online since that announcement, following Sherwood and Corvallis in 2025 and a Portland location at Mall 205 that opened Jan. 22.

City of Tigard permit records list a filing for "construction of a new Chick-fil-A restaurant" at 10850 S.W. Gaarde St., OregonLive reported in September. The permits describe the project as "Chick-Fil-A - Tigard, OR (Pacific Hwy & Gaarde St)." OregonLive noted the address does not yet appear in mapping databases. The most likely site is the southwest corner of Pacific Highway and the southern branch of Gaarde Street, near a JR Furniture and Mattress store.

As of early September, those permits were still under review and construction had not started.

No opening date has been set. Chick-fil-A has not named an owner-operator or construction timeline for the Tigard location.

Cornelius location opens Thursday

The Cornelius restaurant at 390 Baseline St. will open at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, as first reported by the Valley Times. Nyan Cianciosa, who started as a Chick-fil-A team member in 2014 and later completed the company's Leadership Development Program, will own and operate the location.

Cianciosa said he looks forward to "serving the Cornelius community with excellent food and hospitality, while setting an example for my daughters."

Chick-fil-A expects the restaurant to create about 90 jobs. Hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and delivery options.

On opening day, customers wearing cow print can receive one free entrée or kids meal while supplies last. The offer is limited to one per person and can be redeemed inside or at the drive-thru.

Broader Oregon growth

Chick-fil-A operated 14 restaurants across Oregon as of its Oct. 6, 2025, expansion announcement. The company said the expansion would bring an estimated 600 jobs statewide through 2027.

The chain is also donating $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the Cornelius opening, with funds directed to organizations in the greater Cornelius area.

Tigard residents watching for updates on the Gaarde Street location can monitor the city's online permit portal for changes to the project's review status.
