Tigard families will have a new private preschool option on the 99W corridor when Ivybrook Academy opens its first Pacific Northwest location.

The preschool franchise, which blends Montessori and Reggio Emilia teaching philosophies in a half-day format, will hold a grand opening from 2 to 5 p.m. July 18, at the school. The event includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the brand's Ivy the Owl mascot, crafts, face painting, prizes, and a community garden planting where founding families can plant a flower to mark the school's arrival.

Ivybrook serves children ages 18 months to 6 years old. The school offers multiple half-day sessions within a weekday operating window of 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the school year, closing by noon in summer. It is a curriculum-based academic program, not a full-day childcare center.

Jennifer and Drew McWilliams founded Ivybrook Academy in 2007 in Weddington, North Carolina. The brand now operates about 70 locations across 22 states, according to a June 2026 company press release. The Tigard campus is its first in Oregon and anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, according to reporting by Ray Pitz in Your Oregon News.

The local franchise owner has not been publicly identified.

The private, tuition-based program joins a local early learning landscape that includes free preschool options coordinated through the Tigard-Tualatin School District. Those publicly funded programs operate on a different model, offering full-day options for qualifying families.

Enrollment for the 2026–27 school year is open, according to the school's Tigard page on ivybrookacademy.com. The grand opening runs from 2 to 5 p.m. July 18, at 16200 S.W. Highway 99W.
