Fall registration opened Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Juanita Pohl Center in Tualatin, with day trips, an artificial intelligence symposium and wellness classes running through November.
The timing matters for Tigard residents, too. The Tigard Senior Center closed Monday, Aug. 31, for roof construction and is not expected to reopen until Sept. 20.
Meals on Wheels is referring congregate meal clients to the Juanita Pohl Center at 8513 S.W. Tualatin Road during the closure, according to Valley Times reporting.
"We have made alternate arrangements for our exercise classes, which will be held at the Tigard Public Library," Gloria Cox, a Meals on Wheels program manager at the Tigard location, told Valley Times on Aug. 26.
The City of Tualatin described the fall lineup as a mix of day trips, social activities and lifelong learning programs.
Two day trips anchor the schedule. One heads to the Mt. Pisgah Mushroom Festival at Mount Pisgah Arboretum near Eugene on Sunday, Oct. 25. The festival runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 25.
A second trip visits the Next Level Pinball & Pop Culture Museum in Hillsboro, a 27,000-square-foot facility with more than 690 pinball and arcade games. More than 640 are on free play. General admission is $23 per person for an all-day wristband.
The center is also hosting an AI Symposium this fall, along with Coffee & Conversations, a social program for meeting new people, and a range of wellness and longevity classes.
Specific dates, times and fees for those programs were not listed in the city's announcement.
