A day of K-pop, traditional Korean music, hanbok fashion shows, and a free community market arrives at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts on Saturday, July 25, about five miles from downtown Tigard.
The Annyeong (Hello)! Korea Culture Festival runs noon to 5 p.m. at the Reser, 12625 S.W. Crescent St. in Beaverton.
The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles describes the Oregon event as bringing Korean culture to "a new region in the United States," making this the festival's first appearance in the state.
The free community market opens at noon in the lobby and is open to all without a ticket.
Vendors will feature Korean beauty, fashion, and lifestyle products, along with a K-Food Supporters booth offering Korean food gift bags. Paid performances in the theater begin at 2:30 p.m., with seating opening at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 with no additional fees.
Performance lineup
The afternoon stage schedule, according to Your Oregon News, includes:
- 2:30 p.m. — DOSI, a traditional Korean and rock fusion band
- 3:40 p.m. — K-pop performance
- Maria Kim Jazz Quartet (time not listed)
Hanbok fashion shows featuring internationally recognized designer LEESLE are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Beauty artist Sara Kim is also among the featured participants.
Local ties
The festival is co-hosted by the Korean Society of Oregon, the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle, in cooperation with Seattle Bazart, a pop-up event and marketing agency.
The Reser's event page frames the festival as part of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, bringing together Oregon's diverse communities to celebrate Korean culture.
Beaverton has maintained a sister city relationship with Cheonan, South Korea, since 1989, a connection that gives the festival local roots.
