Tigard and Tualatin residents have until Sunday, Sept. 13 to tell Washington County how it should spend transit dollars over the next two years.

The county's Transit Development Plan survey, open since Aug. 19, asks residents to weigh in on bus route expansions, service frequency and regional connections that will shape funding requests for fiscal years 2027–28 and 2028–29.

The city of Tigard's September newsletter flagged the deadline for residents.

The Transit Development Plan, or TDP, is the county's two-year roadmap for transit improvements. It is updated every two-year cycle, with public input setting the priorities each time.

The plan covers community and job connector shuttles serving areas outside the TriMet and South Metro Area Regional Transit (SMART) districts, connecting rural communities to urban areas. Those shuttles include the Tualatin Shuttle, King City Link, GroveLink, Bethany Link, North Hillsboro Link, Cornelius Link, westLink and SPOT Southwest. The plan also addresses first- and last-mile access gaps and door-to-door services.

Survey participants are asked to review proposed service updates and share priorities across four categories: new and expanded routes; earlier, later and more frequent service; stronger regional connections with TriMet, SMART and local job shuttles; and improved pedestrian and ADA access along with enhanced transit stop amenities.

"Our goal is to make transit more reliable, accessible and connected for everyone," Stephen Roberts, director of Washington County's Department of Land Use & Transportation, said in the county's Aug. 19 announcement of the survey. "Your feedback will influence the adjustments and improvements we pursue."

Projects that emerge from the TDP are funded through Oregon's Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF), a state program supporting expanded public transportation. The Washington County Board of Commissioners on June 2 authorized two grant applications to the STIF discretionary program for transit enhancements in the county.

The online open house and survey are available at tdp2026.washcoopenhouses.org. No date has been announced for when the county will present results or adopt the updated plan.
