Tigard's next city manager is a familiar face. Brian Rager, who has worked for the city since 1996, was selected by the City Council to lead the organization permanently, the city announced yesterday.

Rager's confirmation vote is scheduled for tomorrow at the regular City Council meeting. He is set to begin serving immediately after the vote.

Rager said he plans to review how the city delivers services, including permitting and programs that affect developers and small businesses. In a statement released by the city, he said he will "clarify and prioritize our programs and services and set the right level of service of each."

"I intend for the community to play a role in this work," Rager said.

Rager spent most of his three decades with the city as Public Works Director, overseeing infrastructure projects, permitting, and service delivery.

He stepped into the Acting City Manager role before the council launched a formal recruitment process with consulting firm Prothman. That search included community and staff input.

The Tigard Chamber of Commerce republished the city's announcement the same day.

Mayor Yi-Kang Hu said Rager "has earned the trust and respect of many through his dedication, hard work, and deep commitment to this community," adding that he brings "both institutional knowledge and steady leadership at an important time for Tigard."

No details on Rager's salary or contract terms have been made public.

The City Council's confirmation vote is scheduled for its Tuesday, July 7, meeting.
