Organizer Uberthons expects about 500 runners and walkers at Cook Park on Nov. 26 for the Turkeython 5K Fun Run/Walk.

The chip-timed 5K starts at 8 a.m. at Cook Park, according to the Uberthons event page. The race course passes through Durham Park between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., the City of Durham posted. Residents near Durham Park should expect foot traffic during that window.

A free Kidathon follows at 9:15 a.m. at Cook Park. The untimed kids' race covers about a quarter mile on a loop inside the park, finishing at the same arch as the 5K. Two age groups run separately: ages 8 and up, and ages 0–7. Parents are encouraged to run alongside their children.

Registration

Registration costs $40 through Nov. 19. On and after Nov. 20, the price rises to $45. Families registering two or more participants in the same transaction save $3 per person, though the discount does not apply on race day.

The Kidathon is free.

All 5K finishers receive a Turkeython finisher medal.

Bib pickup and parking

Runners can pick up bibs on Nov. 24 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 7800 SW Durham Road, Suite 600, at the back roll-up door. Race-morning pickup runs from 7 to 7:45 a.m. at Cook Park.

Organizers ask runners to wear bibs on their chests for accurate timing and photos.

Carpooling is encouraged. Overflow parking is available at Tualatin City Park or Tigard High School, with a walk or jog to Cook Park as a warm-up.

Kids can enter a coloring contest by turning in completed pages at bib pickup or at the finish line before the 9:15 a.m. Kidathon.

The prize is a Costco pumpkin pie.
