Tualatin's boys soccer season is over after a 2-1 home loss to Sherwood in the OSAA 6A state playoff qualification round on Monday, Oct. 26.

The Timberwolves fell in the non-league elimination game, according to MaxPreps, ending a season in which the program posted a 9-2-4 overall record and finished second in the Three Rivers League at 2-1-2.

Tualatin scored 39 goals and allowed just nine all season.

The loss ends the season for a veteran group that entered the fall determined to reverse years of losing.

Tualatin went 3-9-2 overall and winless in league play last season, and the program had not won a playoff game since 2019, according to a Tualatin Life preseason report published in September.

Head coach Ryan Hyatt told Tualatin Life before the season that his returning players were driven to change the program's direction.

Seniors Miles DeGraw, a goalkeeper, and Julian Rios were voted captains last year and returned to lead the squad.

"They're hungry to not have the same experience they've had the last couple of years," Hyatt said in the preseason report.

The regular season backed it up. The Timberwolves opened with a 0-0 draw against Mountainside on Aug. 27, then won seven straight games, outscoring opponents 32-1 in that stretch.

A 4-0 loss to Lakeridge on Oct. 1 was the lone lopsided defeat.

Tualatin beat West Linn 1-0 on Oct. 15 and tied rival Tigard 1-1 on Oct. 20 before drawing Sherwood in the qualification round.

Sherwood entered the match with a 4-8-2 record, according to MaxPreps.

No individual goal scorers or game statistics from the qualification round have been published.

The Valley Times reported scores from the full 6A qualification round. Three Rivers League rival West Linn advanced with a 2-0 win over Newberg.

Tualatin's nine wins matched the program's highest total in at least three seasons.
