Tigard nonprofits and event organizers have until Monday, Nov. 2, to apply for a one-time city grant of $5,000 or $10,000.
The City of Tigard opened the special Community Events Grants on Oct. 1, using available revenue from the Transient Lodging Tax (TLT), according to the city's grants page.
The opportunity is separate from Tigard's regular fiscal year grant cycle, and no applicant presentations are required.
The money is earmarked for events that attract tourists or draw audiences from outside a 50-mile radius.
Social service programs are not eligible. Events must take place within city limits.
Tax-exempt organizations, other governmental agencies and groups with a tax-exempt fiscal sponsor can apply, according to the city's grant program guidelines.
For-profit businesses cannot. Applicants choose either the $5,000 or $10,000 tier, and the city will not award an amount above or below the requested level.
Each application must include a budget, the number of local, surrounding and out-of-area residents expected to participate, and a description of the event's benefit to the Tigard community. The city evaluates applications on five criteria: alignment with tourism goals, community impact, equity, organizational competency and fiscal responsibility.
Grant recipients must credit the City of Tigard as a sponsor in all published event materials. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
Mark your calendar: Community Events Grant applications are due Monday, Nov. 2.
