Tualatin's largest multicultural celebration returns July 11, with free admission, live performances, a community parade, and enough food to feed an estimated 3,000 attendees.
¡Viva Tualatin! runs from 2 to 8 p.m. at Tualatin Community Park, 8515 S.W. Tualatin Road. Parking is also free.
"The event continues to grow each year and celebrates the cultures, traditions and people that make our community unique," said Betsy Rodriguez Ruef, Tualatin's community engagement coordinator.
Rodriguez Ruef said the festival brings together residents and visitors across cultures for an afternoon of food, art, music, and a community parade.
The entertainment lineup includes performances by Grupo Mparable, traditional Aztec dance, ballet folklórico, and charrería demonstrations showcasing Mexican horsemanship.
Danza Azteca dancers, who performed a Rainwater Dance at the 2019 festival, return as part of the lineup spotlighting Indigenous and Latin American culture.
For kids and thrill-seekers, a water slide and mechanical bull anchor the attractions. Families can also find crafts, a giant coloring mural, chalk art stations, and artisan booths selling handmade art, clothing, and accessories.
Among the food vendors: Caballeros Catering, known for its Mexican hotdogs loaded with onions, cheese, jalapeños, and sweet pepper aioli.
Volunteers are still needed for setup, games, crafts, face painting, and sidewalk art. Sign-ups are available through the city's Volgistics volunteer portal at tualatinoregon.gov.
The festival has run for several years, drawing residents from Tualatin and surrounding communities including Tigard, Bull Mountain, and Durham.
