Herman Miller and Design Within Reach will open side-by-side stores at Bridgeport Village on Friday, Sept. 25, adding two more tenants to the Tigard mall's eight-store fall expansion.

Both brands belong to MillerKnoll, the Zeeland, Michigan-based parent company.

Debbie Propst, MillerKnoll's president of global retail, said in a statement that the paired locations let customers "explore the full spectrum of modern design."

The stores were built with a mix of wood, brick and glass, according to the Valley Times, which first reported the opening. MillerKnoll said the interiors feature reclaimed Douglas Fir wood sourced locally and other recycled materials.

Herman Miller is known for the Aeron office chair, a fixture in workplaces worldwide. Design Within Reach, which already operates a store in Portland's Pearl District, carries modern furnishings, lighting and décor. The Bridgeport Village location is the brand's second in the Portland metro area.

Both stores will offer free design services. Shoppers can get space planning help, material samples and personalized guidance. Design Within Reach also provides in-home consultations and 3D room renderings, according to WhatNow Portland.

The openings are part of a broader push at Bridgeport Village toward higher-end home and lifestyle retail.

The mall has also added Arhaus and will welcome City Home on Oct. 1, according to WhatNow Portland. In all, eight new tenants are arriving this fall: Rothy's, FP Movement, Design Within Reach, Herman Miller, City Home, Sur La Table, Mikiko Mochi Donuts and Miss Hannah's Gourmet Popcorn, The Oregonian reported.

Erika Plummer, vice president of leasing for mall owner CenterCal Properties, called 2026 "a landmark year for Bridgeport Village" in The Oregonian's Sept. 18 report on the expansion. She pointed to a mix of national, first-to-market and local brands joining the center.

The Herman Miller and Design Within Reach stores are at 7301 SW Bridgeport Road. Store hours have not been announced.
