Six Tigard restaurants along Pacific Highway earned perfect scores in Washington County's latest round of unannounced health inspections, while one Tualatin restaurant was cited for food-safety violations including missing handwashing soap and improperly stored chicken.

The late-July inspection results were reported by Your Oregon News reporter Nick LaMora on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Banning's Restaurant, Burgerville, Domino's Pizza, Jersey Mike's Subs, Papa John's Pizza and Starbucks all scored 100 out of 100 at their S.W. Pacific Highway locations in Tigard.

Five Tualatin restaurants also earned perfect marks: Bellagios Pizza, Big Town Hero, Cold Stone Creamery, Jamba Juice and Starbucks.

The outlier was Joy Teriyaki at 7009 S.W. Nyberg St. in Tualatin, which scored 79. Inspectors cited six violations: the handwashing sink near the food prep area had no soap (soap was provided during the visit), the dishwasher measured inadequate chlorine levels, cut cooked chicken was stored at too low a temperature and had to be discarded, musubi was not properly time-marked, bulk food bins lacked ingredient labels, and clean cutting boards were stored on a floor rack.

A score of 79 still passes. Washington County requires a minimum of 70 for a restaurant to remain in compliance, according to the inspection results.

The county conducts two routine, unannounced inspections of every licensed food-service establishment each year, according to its Environmental Health program. Reports are public record and searchable online at inspections.myhealthdepartment.com/oregon, though results carry a 14-day lag from the inspection date, according to the Oregon Health Authority.

This is the second batch of local results in recent weeks. An early-July inspection round covered a different set of Tigard restaurants, including Black Rock Coffee Bar, Chipotle and Dutch Bros, with no local spot scoring below 85.
