Tigard High School's football team opens its home schedule Friday, Sept. 11, against Sunset at Douglass Memorial Field, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

The Tigers (1-0) enter ranked No. 10 in Oregon by the Massey Ratings, per On3, after a 45-14 win over South Medford on Sept. 4. Sunset (0-1) dropped a 21-20 decision to Roosevelt the same night, according to the Hillsboro News-Times scoreboard.

Senior quarterback Aris Dimick powered the Week 1 blowout. He completed 19 of 34 passes for 274 yards, threw two touchdown passes and added a rushing score.

Wide receiver Jaxon Lee hauled in six catches for 158 yards and a touchdown, while Brady Blanchard added a 31-yard touchdown reception and running back Josiah Durrell scored on a 41-yard run.

The Tigers never trailed.

Tigard led just 10-0 at halftime before erupting for 28 points in the third quarter, RV Times reported.

First-year head coach Will Whitley is the program's fourth coach in five seasons.

He inherits a roster that went 1-8 in 2025, the fewest wins since 2008. Whitley, a passing-game specialist, told The Oregonian in a Sept. 1 Three Rivers League preview that the culture has changed.

"This isn't the same Tigard football team people saw last year," Whitley said. "This is a completely new program with a new mentality, a new culture and a new standard."

The roster also gets a boost from senior wide receiver and safety Arrelious Peterson, who missed most of 2025 with a torn ACL but returned healthy in late July.

Sophomore Paxton Green, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound wide receiver and safety, moved up from the freshman team as an impact newcomer on both sides of the ball.

Across town, Three Rivers League rival Tualatin sits at 2-0 and No. 3 in the state after beating Sherwood 35-14 on Sept. 4.

Kickoff at Douglass Memorial Field is 7 p.m. Friday, and a full game recap will follow Saturday, Sept. 12.
