Tigard's girls soccer team carries a 6-0-2 record and a No. 7 ranking in the 6A coaches poll into Three Rivers League play, which opens Tuesday, Oct. 6, against Lake Oswego.
The Monday, Oct. 5, OSAAtoday coaches poll placed the Tigers seventh with 38 points, one spot below their No. 6 ranking in the previous poll. Jesuit topped the list at No. 1 with a 7-0-1 record and eight first-place votes. Three Rivers League rival Lakeridge checked in at No. 8, while West Linn dropped out entirely at 3-4-2.
The coaches poll is separate from the OSAA's official RPI and Colley ratings, which are used for playoff seeding. In that system, Tigard sits at No. 6 in 6A with an RPI rating of 635.348 as of Monday, Oct. 5.
A year ago, the Tigers finished 4-8-4 and lost to Grant 3-0 in the first round of the state playoffs. Head coach Scott Eggleston told the Valley Times on Sept. 30 that injuries derailed the 2025 season, with three top performers lost to season-ending injuries.
Eggleston said the team committed to a summer strength-training and injury-prevention program to avoid a repeat.
The result: 17 returning varsity players on a roster led by co-captains sophomore Miriya Kira and seniors Sam Mao and Ella Naser, with senior goalkeeper Brianna Burum anchoring the back line.
"Defensively, we've been excellent, conceding five goals in seven matches and earning three shutouts," Eggleston said in the Sept. 30 interview. "Offensively, we've shown we can score, putting away 18 goals so far."
Those stats covered seven games.
Since then, Tigard added wins over Century (3-1 on Sept. 25) and at Forest Grove on Sept. 29 to extend the unbeaten streak to eight. All eight results came in non-league play.
Naser, a four-year varsity starter at center back, and Mao, who plans to play soccer at George Fox University, anchor the senior class. Eggleston identified finishing in the attacking third as the area the Tigers need to sharpen against tougher league opponents.
The TRL schedule ramps up quickly: after the Lake Oswego opener, Tigard hosts St. Mary's Academy on Thursday, Oct. 8, travels to West Linn on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and hosts Lakeridge on Thursday, Oct. 15. The rivalry match against Tualatin is set for Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Tigard.
