Families looking for a Halloween outing can head to downtown Tigard on Friday, Oct. 30, when Main Street becomes a trick-or-treating route for costumed kids.
The Tigard Downtown Alliance is hosting its annual Trick or Treat Main Street event from 3:30 to 6 p.m., Your Oregon News reported. Participating businesses along Main Street will hand out candy and join in the Halloween festivities.
Sensory-friendly hour opens the afternoon
The first hour, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., is set aside for young children and neurodivergent children, according to the Tigard Downtown Alliance's event page. The quieter window gives those kids a chance to trick-or-treat in a more relaxed setting before the full crowd arrives.
General trick-or-treating opens at 4:30 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m. Children are encouraged to wear costumes.
Traffic limits and crosswalk monitors
Traffic will be limited along Main Street during the event. Volunteers and Tigard Police officers will monitor crosswalks to help families move between businesses, according to the alliance.
The exact blocks affected and which businesses are participating have not been specified in public event listings. The Tigard Downtown Alliance event page has additional details.
