Tigard hosts Lakeridge at Douglass Memorial Field on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Three Rivers League opener for both teams.
The Tigers (3-0) have scored at least 40 points in each of their first three games, a feat the program hadn't accomplished in four years, according to The Oregonian/OregonLive. Their most recent win, 43-13 over Clackamas on Friday, Sept. 18, featured three touchdown passes from senior quarterback Aris Dimick and three rushing scores from junior Taison Cepeda. Tigard's defense had allowed just three touchdowns through three games.
First-year head coach Will Whitley, the program's fourth coach in five seasons, has overseen the turnaround from a 1-8 finish in 2025. After the Clackamas win, Whitley credited the other side of the ball. "The offense shows on paper, but the defense is leading the charge," he told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Lakeridge (3-1) arrives with momentum of its own.
The Pacers, ranked No. 8 in the Week 2 Class 6A coaches poll, have won three straight after an opening-week loss at North Medford. They beat Mountainside 34-22 on Friday, Sept. 18, behind junior quarterback Carson Pickens, who completed 9 of 13 passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns, Your Oregon News reported.
Pickens takes over this season for Drew Weiler, who earned all-Three Rivers League honorable mention last year and is now at Williams College. Lakeridge head coach Spencer Phillips, in his seventh year, praised his young roster after the Mountainside win. "I'm really proud of how hard our team is playing," Phillips told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Saturday, Sept. 19. "TRL play is going to be incredibly difficult."
Both rosters feature players on The Oregonian/OregonLive's list of Oregon's top 300 high school football players. Dimick ranks No. 55 after passing for 1,378 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior. Cepeda, who made the all-TRL second team as a sophomore, is No. 245. Lakeridge senior running back Colby Owen checks in at No. 93.
Tigard travels to Milwaukie on Friday, Sept. 25, before the league opener. Kickoff at Douglass Memorial Field is set for 7 p.m.
