Tigard High brings back four all-league players and the reigning Three Rivers League Coach of the Year as boys soccer practices open Monday, Aug. 17, giving the Tigers one of the deepest returning cores in the conference, according to Your Oregon News.
Senior forward Ulises Trujillo Lopez leads the group. A two-time first-team all-TRL selection who earned the honor as both a sophomore and a junior, Trujillo Lopez is joined on the 2026 roster by senior midfielder Walter Mendenhall and junior defender Hunter DeSanno, both first-team picks last fall, plus senior defender Gavin Goodrich, a second-team honoree. That's four returning all-leaguers, matching defending champion Lakeridge's total and exceeding West Linn's three.
Head coach David Bello, named 2025 TRL Coach of the Year by league coaches, returns to lead the program after guiding Tigard through a competitive season in one of Oregon's toughest 6A conferences, per OregonLive's all-league announcement.
Across town, Tualatin is banking on youth after a 3-9-2 overall finish (0-4-1 in league play) in 2025, per MaxPreps standings. The Timberwolves return six players who earned all-league recognition: senior defender Julian Rios and junior midfielder Cesar Venegas (both second-team selections), senior goalkeeper Miles DeGraw (second team), and honorable mention picks junior forward Ben Nguyen, sophomore defender Connor Camacho and senior defender Mac Thompson.
Camacho earned honorable mention as a freshman. Nguyen, still a junior, gives Tualatin a proven scoring option up top. Five of the six Tualatin returners are juniors or sophomores.
Both local squads face a steep climb.
Lakeridge won the 2025 TRL title at 5-0 in league play and 15-1-2 overall before falling 4-2 to Grant in the 6A state semifinals. West Linn finished second at 4-1 and 14-2-2 overall, losing 2-1 to eventual state champion Beaverton in overtime penalty kicks. Both programs return multiple all-leaguers, including Lakeridge's 2025 Goalkeeper of the Year Collin Cernitz.
One caveat: 2026 fall rosters have not been released, and players may have transferred during the offseason. All returning-player projections are based on 2025 all-league honors earned as underclassmen, as noted in the Your Oregon News preview.
Tigard's four returning all-leaguers are all seniors or juniors, meaning the Tigers' window to challenge for a league title is open now. Tualatin's six honorees skew younger, with most eligible to return in 2027 as well.
