Tualatin's girls soccer team sits at 3-2-1 six games into the 2026 season, and co-head coach Duccio Tagliaferri says the Timberwolves are finding their identity.

"I think the effort and grit of this group really stand out … they continue to compete until the final whistle," Tagliaferri told the Valley Times.

The Timberwolves opened with a tie against Mountainside on Aug. 27, then won road games at Sherwood and West Salem before dropping a home match to North Eugene.

A 1-0 win over Glencoe on Sept. 17 got them back on track. A loss at two-time defending 6A state champion Jesuit on Sept. 21 showed the gap that remains at the top of the classification.

The record tells only part of the story.

Tualatin is ranked No. 14 in the OSAA 6A standings as of Thursday, Sept. 24. The program won four 6A state titles between 2006 and 2014 and reached the playoffs in 2025, according to the Valley Times.

Three senior captains anchor the roster. Sophia Ashley, Maddalena Tagliaferri and Zola Larson each bring something different, their coach said, and their leadership extends beyond game days into training and team culture.

Tagliaferri said junior midfielder Olivia Noda, a first-year varsity player, has been a key connector between the back line and the forwards. Freshmen Alany Isiordia and Anna Tagliaferri have also earned playing time at center back and midfield, showing they can compete at the varsity level.

The co-head coach, who shares duties with Ariana Pumpelly, said consistency is the next hurdle.

The Timberwolves can match anyone when they play a full 80 minutes at their best, he said, but sustaining that level game to game will determine whether they reach the postseason.

Tualatin has eight games left on the regular-season schedule. The Timberwolves face Lincoln on Thursday, Sept. 24, then host La Salle Prep on Tuesday, Sept. 29, and travel to Lakeridge on Thursday, Oct. 1. The rivalry match against Tigard is set for Oct. 20.
