Drivers who use Upper Boones Ferry Road between Durham and Tualatin will lose the route for four days next month.

Pacific & Western railroad will fully close the road from August 10 through August 13, for railway maintenance, according to a July 21 notice on the Durham city website.

The closure covers OR141 northbound and southbound at milepost 8.73 to 8.79 in Tualatin and runs at all hours.

The City of Tualatin alerted Durham to the project. Durham says it will post additional information as it becomes available.

Council's last meeting before summer break

Durham's five-member City Council meets July 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Durham City Hall, 17160 SW Upper Boones Ferry Road. A work session begins at 6:30 p.m. The city has no meetings scheduled for August; the next session after the break is Tuesday, September 22.

Mayor Joshua Drake will preside alongside Council President Leslie Gifford, who has served on the council since 1997. Councilors Gary Paul, David Streicher, and Sean Lee complete the body.

Two council seats on the November ballot

Durham voters will fill two City Council positions on Tuesday, November 3. The city posted the election notice on June 10 and directed qualified residents to contact City Hall for filing information. No candidates have been publicly named as of Friday, July 25.

Under Durham's charter, all five councilors are elected at large to four-year terms, with two or three seats contested at each general election.
