Washington County wants to hear from riders and residents about what comes next for local transit, including proposed route changes to the Tualatin Shuttle aimed at filling gaps left by recent TriMet service cuts.
The county's Department of Land Use & Transportation launched an online open house and survey on Wednesday, Aug. 19, for its Transit Development Plan, a two-year roadmap that guides how state transit dollars are spent locally.
The survey closes Sunday, Sept. 13.
Responses will shape funding requests for fiscal years 2027–28 and 2028–29, paid for through Oregon's Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund.
What's on the table
The service proposals spell out specific changes for the Tualatin Shuttle and North Hillsboro Link: route adjustments to increase coverage and address gaps created by recent TriMet service reductions, targeted for completion by June 2027.
The county also proposes pursuing grant funding to extend the SPOT Southwest microtransit service through June 2028, with a possible weekend expansion.
Other community shuttles, including King City Link, GroveLink and Bethany Link, would maintain current service levels under the plan.
The survey asks residents to weigh in on new and expanded routes, earlier and later service hours, stronger connections to TriMet and South Metro Area Regional Transit (SMART), and improved pedestrian and ADA access at transit stops.
"Our goal is to make transit more reliable, accessible and connected for everyone," Stephen Roberts, director of Washington County's Department of Land Use & Transportation, said in the county's Aug. 19 announcement. "Your feedback will influence the adjustments and improvements we pursue."
How it works
The Washington County Transit Committee, a body that advises the Board of Commissioners, will use survey results to develop recommendations on how to prioritize STIF-funded projects. The Board of Commissioners authorized two STIF discretionary grant applications at its June 2 meeting.
The county developed the open house in partnership with Ride Connection. It is available in multiple languages.
