Residents who walk or bike SW Boones Ferry Road between Tualatin and Durham will have a pedestrian shuttle available when the road closes for four days starting Monday, Aug. 10.

An ODOT bulletin issued Aug. 5 confirmed two details not included in earlier notices: a shuttle service will carry pedestrians around the closure, and local access for nearby residents will remain open throughout the work.

The closure runs 24 hours a day from Monday morning through the end of the day Thursday, Aug. 13. Portland & Western Railroad is performing rail maintenance at the crossing just north of the Tualatin River, between SW Lower Boones Ferry Road and the river.

SW Boones Ferry Road, also state highway OR 141, is a key north-south corridor connecting Tigard, Durham and Tualatin. The full shutdown affects drivers, transit riders, pedestrians and cyclists in all three communities.

ODOT advised all travelers to plan an alternate route and build extra time into trips, whether driving, using transit, walking or biking. Real-time road conditions are available at TripCheck.com or by calling 5-1-1.

The City of Durham posted its own notice on July 21 after being alerted by the City of Tualatin, but that earlier posting did not mention the shuttle or confirm local access would stay open.

As we reported July 22, the closure was first announced in mid-July. The Aug. 5 bulletin is the first official confirmation of the pedestrian shuttle and local-access exception.
