Washington County Commissioner Pam Treece has raised about $106,000 more in cash than Commissioner Nafisa Fai in the race for county board chair.
Treece collected $442,865 in cash contributions in 2026 and spent $288,135 as of Oct. 22, Your Oregon News reported. Fai raised $336,968 in cash and $80,097 in in-kind donations for $417,065 in total contributions. She has spent $409,579.
The two commissioners are competing for the at-large chair seat on the Washington County Board of Commissioners after neither won an outright majority in the May 19 primary. The general election is Nov. 3.
Treece's largest individual donor is Timothy Boyle, CEO of Columbia Sportswear, who gave a total of $40,000. The Local 48 Electricians PAC also contributed $40,000. Other major Treece donors include the Washington County Chamber of Commerce PAC at $27,000, Jeff Swickard of Swickard Management Company at $25,000, Nike co-founder Phil Knight at $20,000, Portland Alliance PAC at $20,000 and Schnitzer Properties LLC at $20,000.
Fai's funding leans heavily on labor unions and progressive groups. SEIU Local 49's COPE Fund gave $30,000. Oregon AFSCME 75 contributed $25,000 in cash plus $6,686 in in-kind support. Washington County Ignite, which supports progressive communities of color and LGBTQ+ communities, gave $23,292 in combined cash and in-kind donations. The Oregon Working Families Party provided more than $16,700 in in-kind contributions, and SEIU Local 503 gave $14,200.
The contrasts go beyond donors. Treece drew heavily from business interests and trade PACs. Fai's support came largely from unions and progressive political organizations.
Campaign finance records also show Treece returned a $10,000 contribution from Washington County Chair Kathryn Harrington on Sept. 16. That was one day after Harrington made an obscene gesture directed at Fai during a public work session, according to Your Oregon News. Harrington's exact current status is unclear from available records.
Though Treece leads in cash raised, Fai has outspent her. Fai's $409,579 in expenditures tops Treece's $288,135 by more than $121,000. Fai also collected far more in in-kind donations: $80,097 compared to $5,471 for Treece.
The winner will lead the board that governs Washington County, which includes Tigard, Tualatin and Durham.
